The lesson plan was designed for a pre-primary class. The first content area was ‘animals in the forest’ with a second content area of English. The class theme was animals. The first learning objective was to define the word forest and the second objective was for learners to comprehend and identify the different animals in the forest. The plan utilized songs, music and crafts to enhance comprehension. Using pictures allowed the learners to understand what the animals look like visually. Identifying the animals through images also enhances comprehension. The lesson also used stories. Storytelling cultivates a sense of community and self-identity among the learners. The learners were then required to identify and name the pictures of the animals put on the wall. At the end of the week, every learner was required to identify, color and name the drawings of animals.
